Kiowa County Sales Tax Proposition passes

Kiowa County voters went to the polls Tuesday to vote on a countywide Sales Tax Proposition to help fund Elkview General Hospital. As of press time, unofficial results show that the proposition passed with 83.73% of the vote. A total of 1,309 Kiowa County residents came out to cast their vote. There were 1,096 (83.73%) votes for the proposition and 213 (16.27%) against it.

The tax increase will take effect on July 1 and will be in effect for 25 years, expiring on June 30, 2049. The new total sales tax rate in Snyder including state, city, and county sales taxes will be 11.5%. Mountain Park and Roosevelt will increase to 10.5%.
