Priscilla Ann Kelly

December 01, 2022

Priscilla Ann Kelly passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on November 25, 2022. She was born July 30, 1929, to Joe and Mary (Hiner) Summers in Snyder.

Priscilla met Kenneth Kelly at Craterville Park right before he shipped out for Japan with the Navy. She gave him her address, and they wrote letters until he arrived back in Oklahoma. Their marriage of 73 years began in the courthouse at Vernon, Texas, on April 25, 1946.

They spent the rest of their long lives together in the Snyder area. Priscilla worked as a telephone operator before she and Kenny joined her dad in operating City Oil Company. They ran the full-service gas station until they retired.

There were never prouder parents than Pris and Kenny. Their daughter, Dee Ann (Kelly) Richardson, was born in Snyder in 1955. Priscilla was always close to her parents as well, and she and Kenny were so proud of their close-knit family.

After they retired, Pris and Kenny spent summers in their favorite place, Fun Valley RV Park at the base of Wolf Creek Pass, near South Fork, Colo. They made many special friends there who they saw year after year, and Priscilla spent many hours helping Ken paint some of the hundreds of woodcarvings he sold there, including hummingbirds and signs. Each of the grandkids spent a month or more there every summer, on their own with Mema and Papa, making many very special memories.

Pris and Ken also had great memories of Colorado family trips with their friends in their younger days, especially Mary Dell and Jimmy Walker and Tom and Zane Holder.

She always had a book going, usually a mystery. She got great satisfaction from sewing, knitting, crocheting and other crafts, and she was a member of the Don’t Throw It Away Club. She was also a member of the PTA, Band Boosters where she helped get the Community Birthday Calendar fundraiser started and was a Girl Scout leader.

Priscilla was always ready with a smile and a hug for any of her kids, all the way to her great-granddaughter and her bonus great-grandson. She also had a fierce sense of humor and enjoyed many a laugh over all of life’s challenges. Her little family will miss her terribly, but they all remember how many times she told them what a good life she had and how lucky she was to have such a close family.

Priscilla was preceded in death by her husband in 2019 and her parents. Carrying on her memory are her daughter and son-in-law Dee and Harley Richardson; grandchildren Rusty Richardson, Jen Stouder and Clint Block, and Lu and Brian Eyerman; great-granddaughter Sidney Eyerman and bonus great-grandson Brian Lee Stouder.

Her family plans to celebrate her life over her favorite gnocchi soup at Olive Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in her memory to Friends of the Snyder Public Library, PO Box 305, Snyder, OK 73566.

The family would like to thank the many kind and caring professionals who helped Priscilla in her last days and months, including Ayers Nursing Home, CompleteOK Home Care and Hospice, Montevista Skilled Care and CCMH.
