Sharon Ann Smith
Sharon was warmly welcomed into the arms of her Lord on April 6, 2021. She was born to Walter Elbert Deshazo and Freeda Jammae (Lett) Deshazo on June 20, 1947, in Snyder.
Sharon was raised in Snyder along with her brother Larry and sister Aretha. When she was little, Sharon had a special place in her heart for animals and loved music. As a teenager, Sharon excelled in Choir and Band. When she was in high school, Sharon’s family moved to Oklahoma City. She attended Moore High School and graduated in 1965.
In 1966 Sharon married the love of her life, Gary Don Smith, in Oklahoma City. They were blessed with three children: Julie, Greg, and Jonathan. Sharon was a loving wife and the best mother. She worked to help provide for her family and was a bookkeeper for many years with FAA Credit Union. She also operated an in-home daycare and made precious memories with the children she watched over. Sharon and her husband Gary owned Smith Construction Company and she was also a bookkeeper with their company. Sharon also sold home décor with Home Interiors Company.
From a young age, Sharon loved music and loved to sing. For many years she sang with the Sweet Adelines International and also sang with the Sooner Sensations Show Chorus. Music brought her great joy and she made some of the best memories singing with her friends. When Sharon wasn’t being a mother, working, or singing, she enjoyed cooking and sewing.
Sharon will always be remembered for her beautiful voice and love for her family and friends. Although she is no longer with us, her legacy will live on through her family and the lives she touched.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Don Smith; son, Greg Smith; father, Walter Elbert Deshazo; mother, Freeda Jammae (Lett) Deshazo; and brother, Larry Deshazo.
She leaves cherished memories with her daughter, Julie Lopp and husband Jackie; son, Jonathon Smith; sister, Aretha Bower and husband George; grandchildren: Rachel Lopp and partner Michelle Peslee, Gary Lopp and wife Julie Buchanan, Cameron Smith, Madison Smith; one great-granddaughter, Addie Smith and many extended loving family members.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 10, 2021, at South Lakes Chapel of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary in Oklahoma City with Chaplain Cord Fowler officiating. Interment Heritage Burial Park at South Lakes.
