Graveside service for Marie J. Thompson will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Lawton, with Rev. Landon Warren, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Snyder, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Snyder.

Marie J. Thompson, 95, Snyder passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, in Lawton. She was born May 23, 1928, in Cleveland, Ohio. At the age of 16 months, she was adopted by Edward and Christina Winch and was raised and educated in Berea, Ohio. She married her first husband and lived in Berea and worked in Cleveland for 20 years. She divorced and married Donald J. Thompson who was in the Army. She traveled with him to Alabama, Washington D.C., and Korea. His last duty station was at Fort Sill where they retired and bought a home. She and Donald lived in Lawton for 17 years. After her retirement from Goodyear they moved to Tillman County near Snyder where they lived for three years until Donald’s passing in 1994. She then bought a home in Snyder where she spent many happy, full years. Marie was very active while living in Snyder, and was involved in many social organizations, including the Snyder Iris Garden Club, American Legion Auxiliary, The Woman’s Study Club, Secretary of the Snyder Main Street Association, and a member of the Snyder Industrial Board. Marie was also a member of the First Baptist Church where she was a soloist with the choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Donald.

Survivors include her close friends, Will and Debbie Johnson, Cherokee Johnson and LCpl Chris Johnson, Jr.
