Ivy Palin
Memorial services for Ivy L. Palin, age 90, of Tipton, will be at 11 a.m., Friday, November 10, 2023, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Frederick, with Rev. Les Banks officiating. Services are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Palin passed away Sunday afternoon, November 5, 2023, at her home in Tipton.
Ivy L. Palin was born March 10, 1933, in Wembley, London, England to Arthur and Edith Thurlow. She finished school at Wembley High School. On March 28, 1951, Ivy was united in marriage to Frederick “Fred” Palin, in Wallasey, England. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2004.
In 1980, Fred, Ivy and Claire moved to the United States and settled in Tipton to be near Ivy's sister. She owned and operated the restaurant “Bub's Place” in Tipton, for many years. Ivy enjoyed square dancing, reading, and gardening. Every afternoon, she would prepare tea and watch Jeopardy. She was lovingly called Mum by her children, Nanny by her grandchildren and Nanny Bubbles by her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Sandra Edney and her husband Richard, of Somerset, England, Steven Palin and his wife Fiona of Wayne, Sherrie Palin of Canada, Julie Albrick and her husband Joe of Tipton, and Claire Carpenter and her husband Barry of Tipton; one sister, Josephine Clarke of England; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; a special niece, Star Miligan and her husband, Benjie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ivy was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Edith; her husband, Fred, sister and brother-in-law, Midge and Rick Donathan, and brother-in-law, Alfred Clarke.
