Graveside service for Billy Joe Barker will be at 11 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2023, in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Snyder.

Burial will be under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

Billy Joe Barker, 87, former Snyder resident, passed away on Friday evening, November 10, 2023, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was born October 7, 1936, in Mountain Park, to Arleta and Tommy Barker. He was raised north of Mountain Park by his grandparents, Willie Mae and Billy Metzler.

He attended Snyder Public Schools and Cameron College where he received his associate degree. He married Wyneese Hamilton on August 4, 1961, in Frederick. Shortly after being married, they moved to Mountain Park where the children were born. They later resided in Indiahoma for 11 years before settling in Snyder where they continued to raise their children. Billy was a farmer his entire life, a vocation he loved and enjoyed. He was a voracious reader and enjoyed his family life.

Loved ones left to remember Billy Joe are his wife of 62 years, Wyneese Barker of Lawton, his brother Tom Wayne and wife Jan Barker of Norman, his children and their spouses: Kelly and Tony Franklin of Wichita Falls, Texas, Kevin and Sharon Barker of Norman, Kent and Annie Barker of Chickasha. He is also survived by grandchildren: Autumn Hegwer and husband Adam, Landry Franklin, and a great- grandchild Adler Hegwer.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, grandparents, and a brother Donnie Barker.
