Bobbie Jane Sullivan

May 20, 2021

Bobbie Jane Sullivan, 85, passed away of natural causes at her home south of Mt. View, on Dec. 28, 2020, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Bobbie Jane Sullivan was born Aug. 1, 1935, at home at Otter Creek, to Mary Jane Saville and Charlie Melton. Bobbie Jane was the oldest of Carl Dewayne Smith, Alan Edward Smith, Mary Lenora Smith and Phyllis Jean Smith.

Bobbie Jane attended school in Snyder. She obtained her GED in 1979.

She met Andy Sullivan, the love of her life and they had nine children, Robert, Gay, Kay, Judy, George, Tina, Andra, Richard, Gary and her “adopted” daughter Mona, their spouses and families. She had 29 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren at the time of her death. A total of 110 grandchildren in all, with one more on the way.

Andy used to say, “She couldn’t cook anything but macaroni and tomatoes when they first got married, but she learned to cook real good as time went by.”

Her buttermilk biscuits were famous with everyone whoever ate one. She taught all the kids that wanted to learn how to cook, can, make homemade jams and jellies.
She worked outside the home in many different capacities. Her hobbies were reading, sewing and chasing kids. She definitely worked at home, too.

She helped work the cattle, too! There was a time when a 250 pound calf tried to escape getting shots and it ran between her legs, she was astride that calf backwards! She would holler “hhheeelllpppp mmmeee”! Then that calf would holler “mmmmmmooooo”! Then they would repeat that again and again! We were all laughing so hard at what we were watching that we couldn’t stop laughing to help her!

Bobbie Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Robert Andrew (Andy) Sullivan; her parents, Mary Jane Saville and Charlie Melton; her grandparents, Izora and Rich Coffelt.

She preceded her brother, Carl Dewayne Smith, who died May 8, 2021.

Memorial services will be held May 29, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the Southside Baptist Church in Snyder.

She will be buried at the Mountain Park Cemetery next to her husband in a private ceremony, in Mountain Park.
