Betty Agnes Wilcox Jones, 90, of Mountain Park, Oklahoma passed away at her home Thursday, April 18, 2024.

Betty was born at her family’s farm, in the Deep Red Community southeast of Snyder, on August 20, 1933, to William “Bill” Wilcox and Martha Vivian Franklin Wilcox. She was the third of four Wilcox sisters; Albernice, Beverly, Betty and Linda.

She was married to Truman Jones Jr. on September 1, 1950, at the Snyder Church of Christ. To this marriage three children were born: Truman Keith, Robert Kent, and Rebecca Dawn.

She was a skilled speech writer and wordsmith authoring many winning 4-H and FFA speeches. She served as a Bellmon Belle in Henry Bellmon’s historic 1962 gubernatorial campaign.

She was deeply devoted to the Snyder community. She assembled and delivered meals weekly through the generous women of the Snyder Church of Christ. Her love of agriculture and education was kept alive through continuation of the Truman Jones Jr. Snyder FFA scholarship.

Her grit and determination were legendary, formed and shaped by the ups and downs of Southwest Oklahoma agriculture.

Her physical beauty was just a shadow of her beautiful heart and spirit. She loved people. With her warm smile and outgoing personality, she had an uncanny ability to put people at ease.

She was feisty to the end, with her droll, witty humor and intellect intact while living independently on the farm she adored since her arrival there in 1950 as a 17-year-old bride.

While we as a family deeply mourn her passing, we hold great comfort in celebrating her incredible faithful life.

Betty is survived by her three children, Keith and wife Sharon (VA), Kent and wife Amy (TX), Rebecca and husband Kevin (TX), ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and niece, Lisa Kent Proffitt (OK).

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Jones Jr., by her parents; and sisters, Albernice, Beverly, and Linda.
