Timothy Robert Smith
April 30, 2025

Funeral services for Timothy Robert Smith, 71, of Tipton, were Monday, April 28, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Snyder, with Elder Norman Jones, New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church of Snyder officiating.
Burial was in the Rogers Cemetery, west of Snyder, under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Snyder.
Timothy Robert Smith was the first of nine living siblings, entering this world on February 24, 1954, in Talihina. He was the son of the late Marlene (Jackie) McKinney and Eugene Smith. He told stories of his time in eastern Oklahoma, on the farm with the cabin and the agricultural realities of the time. He described this place so that one could see it, envision it… green and promising.
The family later moved to the Pleasant Valley area along the Red River, where they created a home filled with love. Working alongside his father and brothers, Timothy forged a legacy of resilience and brotherhood, steeped in both challenges and treasured memories. With a twinkle in his eye, he would share tall tales about his ornery siblings, ensuring that the bond of family and the love they shared would endure through generations.
He excelled at Snyder Schools as a talented student-athlete, wearing the number 72 on his jersey, and became the first in his family to attend college at Cameron University.
Life took hold and Tim married his first wife, DeLisa Anderson, and they had three children. A cherished memory of his children and all the kids in the neighborhood was Tim pulling up after work in that powder blue one ton with ice cold watermelon on a hot summer evening… salt in the lunch box!
Tim was a highly skilled welder, an accomplished truck driver, and a decisive leader in the oil field. His passion for work drove him to uphold the highest standards of excellence. As a true perfectionist, he demanded nothing less than his best in every task he undertook.
In 2003, he took the heartfelt advice of his children and married Ms. Oreda Southerland of Tipton. Her presence in his life brought him immense joy and a renewed sense of purpose. Together, they blended their families seamlessly, and he welcomed two more children into his fold. Tim and Oreda’s home quickly became a safe haven filled with love for countless nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers, and sisters. As the proud patriarch, Tim loved his family fiercely, embracing the roles of husband, father, brother, uncle, Paw-Paw, friend, and mentor. His warmth and wisdom inspired all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Tim left this world on April 23, 2025, at home, surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, David and Anthony, a sister, Mary, and a sister-in-law, Patricia Smith.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Oreda Smith; his children, Desiree Brown, Quinton Smith, Scott and Jennifer Smith, Ryan and Angelica Hendrix, and Jennifer Stevenson; his grandchildren, Parker Brown and fiancé Chandler Schrock, Trenton and Aspen Stephens, Hayden Brown and JD Cravens, Hannah Brown, Callie Smith and fiancé John Henson, Carter Smith, RyLea Smith, Kennedy Smith, Tucker Smith, Jordan Grantham, Tucker and Sidney Grantham, Tate Grantham, Melanii Amador, Myra Amador, Haidyn Hendrix, Andrew Hendrix, Axxel Hendrix, Camden Hendrix, Ricky Stevenson, and Nicole Stevenson; great-grandchildren, Truitt Stephens, Willow Stephens, Jordan Mendoza, and Hayzlynn Brown; his brothers, Felix Smith, Matt and Terry Smith, Sequoya “Tom” Casey; sisters, Wyonzia Wookey, Noel Head, and Tatum Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews.
