Sherry D. (Smith) Hillemeyer

Sherry D. (Smith) Hillemeyer of Cedar Pointe Estates, Eufaula, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 29, 2026, following a short illness.
Sherry was born March 24, 1939, in Mangum, the only child of Dwight Smith and Ethel Maud (Walters) Smith.
After WWII, the family moved to Snyder, where she attended 12 years at Snyder Public Schools. While in school she was a member of the band as a bass horn player and twirler. Sherry graduated in 1957 as co-salutatorian of her class. Sherry met the love of her life in 1956 while they were juniors in high school.
Sherry married Richard Max Hillemeyer on March 8, 1958, in Snyder They spent the next 68 years together. Of this union, three wonderful children were born: Renee, Craig, and Kevin.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Richard Hillemeyer of the home; daughter, Sherri Renee (Hillemeyer) Buford and Terry of Eufaula; son, Richard Craig Hillemeyer and wife Michelle of Harrah; and son, Kevin Scott Hillemeyer and wife Paula of Mustang. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Ryan Buford, Rhegan Cooper, Jacob Hillemeyer, Amanda Rawls, Audree Oldham, Megan Tolton, Alicia Hillemeyer, and Emily Southerland. She was also blessed with 18 great-grandchildren: Ryley Cooper, Haley Cooper, Brynlie Buford, Gunner Buford, Braelyn Buford, Ellison Rawls, Ruby Rawls, Wesley Hillemeyer, Hayes Hillemeyer, Axl Oldham, Mason Marlow, Cooper Marlow, Kallie Marlow, Connor Southerland, Taylor Southerland, Chandler Tolton, Noah Tolton, and Jordan Tolton.
Sherry retired from the Oklahoma Department of Human Services in 2008 when they moved to Lake Eufaula. She was a loyal and true friend, and a proud Christian with a benevolent heart. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
