Morris G. (Butch) Spurlin III

Graveside service for Morris G. “Butch” Spurlin III will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2021, in the Mountain Park Cemetery with Pastor William Dickey, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Snyder, officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Snyder.
A come and go viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from 11a.m. until 7p.m. at the funeral home in Snyder.
Morris G. “Butch” Spurlin III, 55, Snyder, passed away from COVID-19 complications on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. He was born to Morris G. Spurlin Jr. and Lorraine B. (Leonard) Spurlin on September 24, 1965, in Midwest City. His siblings included Rosaline (Spurlin) Fobb and Weldon “Buster” Spurlin.
Butch met the love of his life, Gina Rene Wheeler on Labor Day at the Mountain Park celebration in 1982. Butch graduated from Snyder High School in the Class of 1983. Gina and Butch were inseparable until they exchanged vows at the Holy City of the Wichitas near Meers on March 10, 1984. They were married for 38 happy years. They lived in Oklahoma City where Butch was a car salesman and worked in construction until 1986. They returned to Snyder and welcomed their first child, Joshua Spurlin on January 31, 1987. Their second son, Nathan Spurlin was born August 4, 1993.
Butch was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in May of 1990. He carved out a career there that spanned 31 years. Throughout his time at Goodyear he made many friends who became his second family. Butch was very active in his small community of Snyder. Among his many contributions to his community were serving on the school board and establishing and promoting different sports organizations. Butch was a very active, full of life kind of guy. When he had spare time, you could find him on the golf course or spending time with his wife, children or granddaughters, Hadley and Harper Spurlin. He had a positive impact on the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
Butch is survived by his wife Gina Spurlin of the home, sons: Joshua and Chelsea Spurlin of Cache, Nathan and Allison Spurlin of Duncan; his brother Weldon “Buster” Spurlin of Snyder and his two granddaughters: Hadley and Harper Spurlin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister and his grandparents.
