Gail Zinn Laing
Funeral service for Gail Zinn Laing, age 83, of Tipton was Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Frederick with Erin Martinez, chaplain of the Jackson County Memorial Hospital Hospice. Burial will follow in the Tipton Cemetery with Rev. Les. Banks officiating. Services are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mrs. Laing passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021, at The Courtyards at Magnolia Creek in Altus.
Gail (Zinn) Laing was born August 30, 1938, in Mangum to Fern Allen and Geraldine (Jenkins) Zinn. She attended Mangum Public Schools, graduating from Mangum High School in 1955. On August 29, 1958, she and Max Allen Laing were united in marriage in Mangum. She attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1960. Gail taught in Snyder, Texas; Quanah, Texas; Duncanville, Texas; Chillicothe; Texas, Tucumcari, New Mexico and later retired from Rush Springs.
Gail had a passion for teaching; she loved all her children and enjoyed reading to them. She was an excellent cook and baker, enjoyed working in her yard, and loved to crochet. After retirement, Max and she enjoyed traveling. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tipton.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Max Laing of the home; one daughter, Lori Davis of San Antonio, Texas; one son, John David Laing of New York, New York; one sister, Ann Cook of Amarillo, Texas; two grandchildren: Brittany Springfield and her husband Jeff of Fort Worth, Texas and Taylor Davis of San Antonio, Texas; and one great-granddaughter, Addison Springfield.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fern and Geraldine Zinn.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Tipton, or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, for Alzheimer’s Research in memory of Gail Zinn Laing.
