Norma Dean (Marler) Lorance, 91, was called home by her Heavenly Father on Saturday, October 9, 2021, to join her Lord and Savior and her loved ones who had preceded her. Norma was born to James Michael and Willie Lue (Quinley) Marler on May 16, 1930, in Hobart. She attended Hobart Schools.
After graduation she married Wayne Lorance and they shared 66 blessed married years together. Five children were born to this union: four sons, Steven Ray, Dennis Wayne, Joe Bill and Michael Dean, and a daughter, Lue Ann. Norma and Wayne met while she was working at Gaines Drugstore fountain counter in Hobart. Norma and Wayne eloped and married in Wichita Falls, Texas, on March 12, 1949. Norma was a homemaker to her loving family, and she also worked outside the home over the years at places in Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas. In Oklahoma she worked at C.R. Anthony’s in Guthrie and Ditch Witch in Perry.
After retirement, Norma and Wayne returned to Mountain Park and enjoyed many years at a second career, flea marketing, garage selling and antiquing. They enjoyed several years of travel as well as hosting many family events at their home in Mountain Park. In Mountain Park, many memories were made with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. During Norma’s last few years, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and reading any newspapers she could find. She always gave the Lorance smile when a visitor brought her sugar cookies with frosting, chocolates and a cold Coke. Her biggest smiles came from welcoming all those who visited with her. Norma was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Mountain Park and Snyder.
Norma is survived by her four sons: Steven Ray of Crescent and his good friend, Teresa Rountree of Edmond, Dennis Wayne and wife Teresa of Ada, Joe Bill and wife Darla of Shawnee, Michael Dean and wife Cindy of Mulhall, 14 grandchildren: Stephanie and Brad Maples, Amy (Lorance) and Mark Haydon, Brian and Kelly Lorance, Jay and Tina Lorance, Cody and Katherine Lorance, Joey and Alicia Lorance, Casey Lorance, Kristy Lorance, Kevin Lorance, Michael Lorance, Carra (McManamy) and Stace Benson, Amber McManamy, April and David Strawn and Noah Parris. She is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne, daughter Lue Ann, great-grandson Cooper, five brothers and five sisters.
