Funeral service for former Mountain Park resident Bertha Ann (Perry) Gain, 84, will be at 1 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2022, in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Snyder Chapel with Eugene Woodall, Bertha’s nephew officiating.

Burial will be in the Mountain Park Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited for visitation and viewing from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home in Snyder on Monday, January 10, 2022.

Bertha Ann Perry-Gain, 84, passed away on January 6, 2022, at St Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City due to complications from Covid 19.

Bertha was born on June 14, 1937, in Valiant, to Willie and Laura Perry. She was the fifth child born of 13 children.

Growing up she and her family worked together picking cotton on various farms in southeast Oklahoma. She graduated from Valiant High School in 1955 and ten years later started her own family with the birth of her son, Jeffrey. Bertha lived In Dallas, Texas, and worked for an insurance company, then moved to Oklahoma City where she worked at Local Federal Savings and Loan from 1966 to 1980 when she and Jeffrey moved to Mountain Park.

Once she moved to Mountain Park, she worked at Mabels, a dress shop in Snyder, and eventually began working at the Farmers Coop as a bookkeeper where she retired in 2000. In 2017, she moved to Norman, to live with her son and daughter-in-law. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, and cooking. She reluctantly learned how to use a dishwasher and commandeered that household chore along with doing the family's laundry.

Bertha is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Laura; sisters: Quinnie Delean Perry-Russell, Nannie Lou Perry, Betty Jean Perry-Reich and brothers: David Louis Perry, John Clifton Perry, and Larry Joe Perry.

Bertha is survived by her brothers: J.D. Perry and his wife Vann, Willie E. Perry, Harold Lynn Perry and his wife Mary, and sisters: Dorothy Sue Perry-Meek and her husband Haskell, Leatha Mae Perry-Wardell and her husband Earl, Doris Marie Perry Thompson and her husband J.R.; son Jeffrey Dee Gain and his wife Theresa; granddaughter Sarah Ann Gain, and bonus-granddaughters Brittney Marie Benetz, Bailey Nicole Kellogg, and bonus great-granddaughter Stella Catherine Benetz and many nephews and nieces. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
