Eddie Bob Burkhalter

Graveside Service for former Tipton and Manitou resident, Eddie Bob Burkhalter, age 87, of Dalhart, Texas, will be on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., in the Bethel Cemetery, southeast of Manitou. Mr. Burkhalter passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, in Dalhart, Texas, to be reunited with his wife Charlene, who predeceased him in 2014. Services are under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick.

Eddie was born on February 17, 1934, in Tipton, to Eddie Bee and Sophia Velma (Strickland) Burkhalter. He married Edna Charlene Courtney on August 27, 1952, in Vernon, Texas. They lived in Manitou, Tipton, and Vernon before moving to Dalhart in 1966, which became their permanent hometown.

In Dalhart, Eddie owned and operated the Dairy Inn and helped operate the family businesses of Burkhalter’s Travelers Inn and Burkhalter Chevrolet, where he remained working under other owners until his retirement in 2020. Eddie was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church, where he once served as deacon.

Eddie is survived by three children: Vicki, Karen, and Steven; five grandchildren: Derek, Brandy, Brittany, Kaleesi, and Stevie; and four great-grandchildren: Rachel, Gage, Baylor, and Boyd.
